at the heart of degrea
Terracotta is the heart of Degrea, the expression of our passion and care, transformed into vases that express all the dedication and love we put into our work.
we know earth by heart
For us, everything revolves around terracotta, which has always been the cornerstone of our production, a tradition that continues to evolve from generation to generation.
We stand out for our hands-on approach, combining family tradition with a modern vision of handcrafted production. For several generations, we have been producing exclusively terracotta vases, with the same care as in the past, evolving thanks to new technologies.
What can we say? We have been grinding clay from vase number 1 to the present day!
Our attention to the earth goes far beyond the simple processing of the material: it guides every decision, from the selection of clays to the final quality control phase.
From ancient processing techniques to advanced moulding technologies – ranging from automated presses to robots for increasingly rigorous quality control – every step of the process is designed to enhance the intrinsic qualities of terracotta.
Our experience enables us to perfect every detail daily, enhancing the diverse features of each line.
Degrea vases are distinguished by their aesthetics, their durability and, in some collections, their natural and authentic appearance, resulting from the choice not to apply any covering treatments.
A philosophy that allows the terracotta to breathe, highlighting both its living material and its history.
I couldn’t say exactly how long my family has been producing terracotta vases.
Certainly for generations. My grandfather, my grandfather’s father… and perhaps even before that. Vases have always been part of our history, a silent yet essential presence.
One of my earliest memories is of my father, in the backyard, sitting at the wheel. His right leg turned the plate, while his steady, expert hands shaped the clay with a naturalness that seemed magical.
As children, we would hide to avoid being involved… because we knew he would ask us to poke holes in the bottom of the vases with those little pieces of wood. It was our way of participating, although slightly reluctantly.
I still remember the horse spinning in circles to operate the clay mixer… an image that seems distant today, yet so alive.
Then, an intuition: to transform an ancient craft, unchanged over the centuries, into a modern industrial process… without ever losing its traditional soul.
Thus came new challenges, new adventures. And also the pride of exporting, from a small town in the Veneto region, a simple, humble… yet authentic product. All over the world.
And then… Degrea was founded.
In 2000, we chose to give our experience a name, putting it at the service of innovation. We were the first to create the Graffiata line, much imitated but never truly equalled.
We were also the first to install a photovoltaic system to reduce environmental impact.
Today? Today, the story continues, but with new ideas. New projects. Yet with the same, identical passion of always.
